Right Back To Where We Started From:
The Story Of Cheer Up The Ultimate Pop Party

Cheer Up  Ultimate Pop Party celebrates the music of Stock Aitken Waterman, the trio who have brought us hit after hit since the early 80's with an incredible 40 years of "Hits & Tricks" .

Cheer Up began back in July 2012 after the  Hit Factory event in London's Hyde Park had been cancelled due to bad weather. With 1000's of fans left disappointed on a rainy Wednesday in July,  "Cheer Up" a name change on a social media group for the planned Hyde Park event put a post up after news of the cancelled show to attend an impromptus meet up at London's oldest LGBTQI+ venue, City Of Quebec for an "All Day" Stock Aitken Waterman & PWL party!! Cheer Up was born.

Now having celebrated a decade since Cheer Up Pop party was born the build up to our tenth anniversary saw Cheer Up return back to its roots in London's City of Quebec hosting monthly pop nights at the venue as part of Cheer Up decade celebrations. In total Cheer Up Pop Parties has hosted over 100 events across the UK in London, Manchester, Brighton, Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Southampton, Nottingham having been lucky, lucky, lucky to be joined by some very  special guests over the years including SINITTA, HAZELL DEAN, SAMANTHA FOX, SONIA, SYBIL, NICKI FRENCH, LONNIE GORDON, NATHAN MOORE to name a few.

Over the last decade or so Cheer Up Pop Parties has also hosted other Poptacular events including "Popalicious" a night which celebrated all things Pop & Dance from across the decades, "If you can sing along and dance to it, we'll be playing it". In 2021 ourselves and Sinitta took to the road for "The Sinitta Roadshow" which saw us host events across the country with Sinitta performing live, as well as showcasing "Sinitta The DJ" with other events including The Fizz official album launch for "Smoke & Mirrors" back in February 2020 when Cheer Up teamed up with Mike Stock for this occasion, Kylie Minogue's Fabulous at 50 birthday events across the UK, Cheer Up headed up to Liverpool in May 2023 to be part of Eurovision Song Contestant, hosting and being part of various events across the city and have had nights featuring live guests Toyah Willcox & Kym Sims.

The night started during Pride in London in 2018 when the outstanding Kym Sims joined us from the USA for the event. Since then  Popalicious has gone from strength to strength with the mixture of music and memories becoming a huge success with full details of all Cheer Up and Popalicious events which have featured special guests in our "Events" section.

In 2017 it really was "All aboard The Locomotion" as we hosted our first ever Kylie Minogue event, Locomotion 30 in Brighton. After a huge response the Kylie Locomotion 30 became a regular event that year travelling across the UK which led us to host "Kylie Minogue fabulous at 50 parties" the following year in London with both events selling out within a week and additional dates across the UK being added. Since then we have organised various Kylie themed parties including Enjoy yourself, Fever, Disco and Tension nights as well as our annual Kylie Minogue V's Madonna night, also bringing both Minogue's for a "Minogue Mashup" featuring the music of Kylie & Dannii Minogue.

Following on from our Kylie, Dannii, Madonna (which recently saw Cheer Up team up with Madonna Fan Party for "Celebration tour party launch" in Zodiac Bar London) and George Michael "Cheer Up Icon" events, in February 2019 we organised "The Pet Shop Boys Party", a night celebrating the music and collaborations from Pet Shop Boys. The nights  overwhelming success led us to organise another event that Spring which alongside the Pet shop boys featured Erasure, George Michael, Holly Johnson, Mika, Years & Years and many other LGBTQI+ artists which both Neil Tennant & Chris Lowe attended, talk about "starstruck".

In more recent times we worked with Mike Stock and MPG in organising and hosting The Fizz "Smoke & Mirrors" album launch in February 2020 which saw Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston perform tracks from their forthcoming album as well as other Fizz & Bucks Fizz favourites working closely with the team at Mike Stock music being asked to host their online show to reveal their Ultimate Kylie Stock Aitken Waterman Top 40 tracks, counting down the chart across two shows on YouTube and Mike Stock music website.

In October 2021 Cheer Up joined Sinitta for some special Cheer Up Pop Parties, titled "Sinitta The Roadshow". We wanted to recreate the travelling roadshows from 1989 with ourselves and Sinitta putting on events in Leeds, Nottingham, Southampton and London. The response has been incredible with us playing the "Hits & Tricks" of Stock Aitken Waterman alongside some poptacular anthems, while Sinitta joined us on stage to perform classics including, "So macho", "Toy boy", "Cross my broken heart" as well as other singles, differing from each event which have including "I don't believe in miracles", "Right back to where we started from", "Shame, shame, shame", "Stop in the name of love" and "Hitchin' a ride". As well as performing on stage Sinitta showcased "Sinitta the DJ", playing a set of her favourite 80's and 90's tracks.

Sinitta continued to be a huge part of 2022 and being part of both our Brighton and London Pride events with Cheer Up being part of Pride in London's 50th anniversary parade and what an occasion with Hazell Dean, Denise Waterman and Sinitta joining us as we paraded the streets of central London, with Cheer Up taking part in 2023 Brighton & Hove Pride Parade, which also celebrated their 50th anniversary.

In September 2022 Cheer Up made a return to London's Vauxhall yet this time joining the iconic The Royal Vauxhall Tavern hosting incredible events over the last year including The Hit Factory Of Stock Aitken Waterman, a very special performance from Sinitta and Kylie Minogue "Tension" album party at the venue with many more events being planned at the RVT across the next year and so .

In 2023 the UK on behalf of Ukraine hosted the Eurovision Song Contest with the event being hosted in Liverpool, during May Cheer Up hosted and took part in various events across the city including "Cheer Up its Eurovision", "Liverpool Calling" and Euroclub in Camp and Furnace. It was an outstanding week with so many people coming from all over the world and being joined by some Eurovision royalty including Nicki French, SuRie, Linda Martin and Lindsey D, also in 2023 we took part in another fantastic celebration, this time for Energise who celebrated turning 30 years old with a whole host of stars who took to the stage at The Two Brewers in Clapham.

We closed 2023 with Christmas events in London and saw in 2024 down in Brighton with a very special New Years Eve party with both Sonia and Sinitta with 2024 already looking like another busy year with Cheer Up joining Mighty Hoopla Weekender in Bognor Regis in January. We are also teaming up with the legendary Rozalla for her "Turn On The Light" album launch in February and this April the Queen of Hi-NRG HAZELL DEAN will be celebrating 40 years since "Searchin'" climbed into the UK top 10 with a HUGE Cheer Up and Hazell Dean party with so much more to come this Spring/Summer. Roll on the year, the next decade and beyond.

Cheer Up Chats

Cheer Up Gets Chatty!!!

There had been uncertain times for us all from Spring 2020 what with lockdown and restrictions, yet unable to physically host any events during this time, we still wanted to provide some fun and cheer during these uncertain times . With our Easter event planned for that April Cheer Up got technical and brought the event online, hosting this and other free events online over Facebook and Mixcloud.

With the online events in full swing, when Cheer Up celebrated its 7th birthday in July 2020 we hosted a week of online pop parties with ourselves and the fantastic DJ's who have been part of Cheer Up over the years. We also celebrated  the occasions with a virtual video chat party featuring some of the fantastic guests who had joined us previously on stage, a light bulb moment occurred from that, and with the love, time and support led us to create "Cheer Up Chats" a weekly podcast available free on Mixcloud.

Cheer Up got chatty as we were joined by some incredible guests including Mike Stock, Hazell Dean, Sinitta, Sybil, Johnna, Nathan Moore, Cheryl Baker, Bianca Kinane, Pepsi, Haywoode, Sonia, Josselyne, Kimberly and Ruth-Ann of Boy Krazy, Kym Mazelle, Nicki French, Phil Harding, Paul Varney, David  & Natalie from Scooch, Erik, Daniel James, Cathi Ogden, Rachel McFarlane, Mick Brown, Kym Sims, Craig Robert Young, Linday Layton, Ian Curnow, Maggie K De Monde, Steve McIntosh, Denise Waterman, Sally Anne Marsh, Precious Wilson, Niki Evans, Pete Martine & Pete Hammond.

The shows featured tracks from the artists/producer/ mixers who appeared that week alongside some classics from Stock Aitken Waterman, PWL and some pop bangers.  Scroll down the page to listen to each show by simply pressing on the episodes image.
